Designing an immersive and engaging music experience
The challenge: Only 6% of the UK population and 5% of the US own a VR headset (and this includes Cardboard). The main challenge for MelodyVR is converting non-VR users to VR. They needed a way to give non-VR users an experience that does not require a VR headset, whilst educating users about VR. By enticing and educating non-VR users, MelodyVR identified huge opportunities to capitalise on this interest if non-VR users were to convert.
The solution: MelodyVR decided to lead with iOS. A native iOS app was developed and launched on the App Store. The app enables users to browse through a collection of artists and preview artist videos, without the need to have a VR headset. Nodes developed a custom video player, where the user can watch 30 second 360 videos within the app. The data is coming from MelodyVR’s backend. Additionally, the app contains an About section to educate users more about MelodyVR and an Activity section so that users can see what they have previously viewed and when.
